GAINESVILLE, GA. – Carroll Daniel hosted its annual Carroll Daniel Golf Classic on May 1 at Legacy Golf Course at Lanier Islands, raising a record-breaking $131,400 in support of Hop On A Cure. Proceeds from the event will directly fund critical research efforts aimed at finding effective treatments and a cure for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
This year’s total marks the highest amount ever raised in the nine-year history of the Golf Classic, underscoring the continued generosity and commitment of Carroll Daniel’s subcontractor partners and employees, who fully fund and support the event each year. David Hopkins, Vice President of Community Investments for Hop On A Cure, joined the Carroll Daniel team today to share more about the mission of the Foundation and the impact of the funds raised at the event.
Hop On A Cure is a nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating research and advancing promising therapies for ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. The organization works to bridge funding gaps, supporting innovative research initiatives that have the potential to bring meaningful breakthroughs to patients and families impacted by the disease.
The cause holds special significance for Carroll Daniel, as Hop On A Cure was founded by Gainesville native John Driskell Hopkins, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2021. With Carroll Daniel headquartered in Gainesville, the opportunity to support this mission to combat ALS has created a deeply personal connection for the company and its stakeholders.
“At Carroll Daniel, stewardship is more than a value—it’s a responsibility,” said Brian Daniel, President and CEO of Carroll Daniel. “We are committed to investing in the communities where we live and work, and seeing this event grow year after year, and now reach a record-breaking milestone, is a testament to the passion and generosity of our team and partners.”
Carroll Daniel has long prioritized community engagement and philanthropic initiatives as part of its core values, with an emphasis on building strong relationships and supporting causes that improve lives. As the company’s annual community partner, Hop On A Cure reflects that mission—combining local ties with global impact through its dedication to advancing ALS research.
Thank you to all our sponsors and teams for your generous support and participation. Together, we are making a lasting impact both on and off the course.
