Project Overview

This project involved renovations and build-outs within an existing flavor manufacturing plant in Cartersville, Georgia. Built in three phases, elements included a Flavor Tasting Room, a Class 1/Division 1 (blast and explosion-proof) Flavor Compounding Laboratory, and a Falling Film Evaporator Tower built through the roof of the existing and operating plant.

Continuous Production

Since this was an active industrial plant, careful coordination and planning was required. The Compounding Lab was constructed right next to an existing high-speed bottling line with volumes of up to 200,000 gallons per day. During construction, we ensured that the site was secured when workers were in the plant by building temporary barriers and working around the factory schedule. Since the plant manufactures food products, our team also conformed to Good Manufacturing Policies (GMP) catered to food and beverage manufacturing and safety.

Information On Tap

As a beverage product processing facility, this project involved extensive process piping coordination, which was facilitated by a Digital Plan Room. Our team worked in close coordination with the architect and owner to design and install many complex systems and finishes, including: a Class 1 | Division 1 certified compounding laboratory, a fully-equipped laboratory ventilation system, a process waste delivery system, adding efficiencies to the pH equivalization and effluent handling system, and installation of the 4 Million BTU Falling Film Evaporator Tower.

As an operating plant, it was essential that construction not impede the functionality of our facility. The building was fully occupied and functioning throughout the project with no interruptions. Carroll Daniel’s team did an excellent job with ensuring that there was no contamination, dust, or other issues that would hinder production.
