Elevating Education in the Arts

Carroll Daniel Construction partnered with the Douglas County School System to build Alexander High School’s new 26,858 SF Performing Arts Center. The structural system of the performing arts center was built to last, composed of concrete, masonry, and steel. Equipped with a full rigging system, the fly tower walls were constructed with poured-in-place concrete and stand over 50 feet tall. A state-of-the-art facility, Alexander High School’s new performing arts center is now a proud feature for the school system and an asset to the entire county.

Innovative Engineering

Designed to house up to 600 students, the theatre features a full steel catwalk system, allowing staff and crew to access and arrange theatrical lighting over the auditorium to best fit each performance. This required in-depth scheduling with other trades on site as work had to pause below while steel was hung. To optimize the project schedule, our team worked on an active and occupied high school campus over 15 months, coordinating closely with the school and subcontractor partners to prioritize student and worker safety.

With 26,900 SF of space, state-of-the-art acoustics, and a modern auditorium, the spacious facility culminates three years of planning. This center will improve our students’ arts education and serve as a cultural hub for our community to gather and celebrate the arts.
