On a Tilt

Tilt-Up or Tilt Wall Construction involves concrete panels that are poured on-site, utilizing wood forms and rebar, and then tilted up into place to form a building’s envelope. Some of the advantages of this technique are speed of construction and cost-effectiveness. While the technique itself is fairly standard in the industry, this project included creative architectural accents. The owner’s logo was actually cast into the wall (40’ high and 130’ long) and tilted into place, utilizing a negative mold created from Styrofoam. The final effect is a bold and dramatic statement that showcased the brand and it’s new presence in Gainesville, Georgia.

Expediting an 11-Month Schedule Despite Challenges

Auto Metal Direct had a hard deadline for moving into and beginning operations their facility. A challenge arose when the team was met with extensive rain during key periods of construction. They worked pro-actively before each rain event to grade and prep the building pad area in order to achieve swift drying periods. This require working weekends and doubling the foundation crew to ensure that the schedule stayed on track.

Carroll Daniel Construction was an excellent partner for us throughout the project. They brought ideas to the table from the start, and really made us feel like part of the process. When challenges arose, they came up with creative, cost-effective solutions every time.
