Georgia’s Top High School

A school focused on the future.

Designed to house up to 1,200 students, the GSMST campus features specially-equipped classrooms, science labs, digital media production facilities for sound and video, and large project spaces dedicated to engineering, robotics, and art and design. It is considered to be the top public high school in Georgia, and is consistently listed as one of the best high schools in the country.

A Solid Foundation

A creative approach to a large scale project.

The building foundation was constructed of 800 geopiers supporting concrete footings and approximately 750 lf of foundation wall. The structure was steel with a masonry block and brick veneer skin with interior walls being constructed of concrete masonry units. Due to the height of the building exceeding 84’ and the masonry construction, mechanical scaffolding was used to erect the exterior skin of the building and a hoist was utilized to deliver the CMU and other materials to the floors.

GSMST to date is our tallest, most technically complex, and highest profile project we have constructed here at GCPS. Both project management & field teams within your company (Carroll Daniel Construction) shared ideas to solve any issues that arose. Furthermore, having a “proactive relationship” with the architect kept communications high and changes low.
