America's Auto Port
Expanding operations for one of the busiest ports in the nation.
Colonel’s Island Terminal, located in Georgia’s Port of Brunswick, ranks as one of the largest auto facilities in the United States. The terminal is a dedicated Roll-on, Roll-off (Ro/Ro) facility and is the second busiest port in the U.S. for total Ro/Ro cargo and Ro/Ro imports. The facility is owned and operated by the Georgia Ports Authority, operating 24-hours, 7 days-a-week to ensure the flow of cargo to markets across the Southeastern U.S. and beyond. An hour away from Savannah, the expansion of Colonel’s Island Terminal allows for increased growth, not only in Brunswick, but also the Port of Savannah.

Partners with the Port
Constructing new facilities to meet growing needs.
Carroll Daniel Construction has partnered with Georgia Ports Authority on this 12+ building port modification project at Colonel’s Island Terminal. As a design-build project, our in-house architectural team designed machinery, fumigation, and rubber storage warehouses fit to serve the needs of the port. An additional administration office building, 2-story fleet maintenance facility, guard house, break room building, and receiving and distribution center were also constructed in this expansion.
Ensuring Security & Safety
Securing the site and emphasizing safety in a dynamic working environment.
As one of the nation’s busiest auto facilities, Colonel’s Island Terminal presented some unique features. The North portion of the site required a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) level of clearance. The Carroll Daniel project team partnered with the Georgia Ports Authority and worked closely with local trade partners to ensure maximum security of the site and adhere to all U.S. maritime codes. Scheduling and proper planning by the project team were paramount in getting clearance submitted and approved. Working in close proximity to existing chemical plants and manufacturing warehouses at the port, safety was at the forefront of every step of the project. The team conducted regular safety stand downs to reinforce the importance of safety and security on site.
